Content Generation Tip: Google is rewiring the way we remember!

By Linda Sevier
I read an interesting article recently in CNET news, Google rewiring the way we remember, study says. The study, "Google Effects on Memory: Cognitive Consequences of Having Information at Our Fingertips," is soon to be published in the Journal of Science. It suggests that we forget things that we know we can find on the internet. This makes perfect sense as our ability to remember is limited. It is also a great content generation tip.

content generation strategyIf your "ideal customer" is not storing information that they think they can find on the internet, why wouldn't you strive to be the "go to" place when they need to find it?  Generating fresh content is imperative to inbound marketing success but can be a struggle for many marketers. I urge you to read this article and then consider what information your prospects, clients, and others in your industry need to find?  It need not be complicated or profound, just useful!

If you don't have a formal content generation strategy, now it the time. A content calendar is a good way to keep organized and on track.

Follow these steps to get started:

  • Identify your ideal client
  • Determine what information they might need or find interesting
  • Build a content calendar to keep you on track
  • Be sure to identify a unique keyword phrase for each page of infomation you are posting and note it on your content calendar
  • Search engine optimize your page to increase your page being found.
Don't forget to promote your new posts or pages with social media to point searchers to the information they seek.
